Special Educational Needs and Disability Information, Advice and Support Service (SENDIASS)
Description
Impartial, confidential information, advice and support for parents and carers of children and young people (aged 0-25) with special educational needs or disabilities.   The knowledgeable, trained, friendly team includes: SENDIASS Coordinator, SENDIASS Officers, Independent Support for Education, Health and Care plans, Volunteer Independent Parental Supporters and other members of the FISH team.

Access to this service
The service has an open referral policy.  Parents and carers can contact the service by telephone, email, in writing, face-to-face or by completing an online enquiry form. Please see contact information for details. 
Parents, Carers and Young People can self refer to the service. We are unable to take referrals from professionals unless the parent is unable to contact the service themselves. 
SENDIASS will respond to your enquiry within two working days.
Who this service is for
The service provides information, advice and support to parents and carers of children and young people who have, or may have special educational needs or disabilities. 
It is not necessary for the child or young person to have a diagnosis to access the service.
Registered service and regulatory body
The service meets the Department for Education’s (DfE) Quality Standards for services providing information, advice and support.
Training acquired to support children and young people with SEND and their families
SENDIASS Coordinator - Independent training on SEN and disability law, school admissions, school exclusions, health and social care law. Many years’ experience of providing impartial information, advice and support in relation to meeting the needs of children and young people with SEN or disabilities.
The SENDIASS coordinator, Officers and Independent Support have IPSEA legal training level 1 and 2.
