Area SENCO

Description
The Area SENCO provides advice and guidance through the delivery of training /visits/ emails/ telephone contact to support private, voluntary and independent early years settings within East Riding of Yorkshire to:
  • Recognise when a child may have additional needs and ensure that appropriate interventions are in place
  • Implement a range of strategies to support the learning and development of children with additional needs
  • Make requests for Early Years Support and referrals to appropriate services
  • Facilitate Early Years Support Next Steps and Family meetings
  • Develop and implement Individual Support Plans for children with additional needs
  • Identify Additional Inclusion Support (AIS) needs and make requests for AIS funding
  • Plan and manage transitions within and between settings
  • Submit Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) assessment requests
  • Put in place relevant SEND policies which reflect current legislation and the ethos of their setting
