 ERVIP and FISH Careers Event 2017

For young people with additional needs aged 14 – 25 and their parent carers.

This year’s careers event will focus on the opportunities available for young people when they have left school.

·         The event will provide you with a chance to gain information about work experience, employment, further education, activities and many more services available to young people with additional needs after leaving school.

·         There will be activities for young people to take part in and enjoy socialising with other young people.

·         A chance to meet other parent carers and young people and gather information about services available to your family and how they can support you.

·         An opportunity to enjoy a relaxed day with pampering included.

Light refreshments will be provided, including tea, coffee and soft drinks.

 Autism Awareness Courses 

Seminars are open to all parents and professional/practitioners.
Courses are for those parents whose child has a diagnosis. Please note that it is expected that parents attend the first course - Exploring Autism Course.

The seminar is open to families and practitioners who would like to know more about Autism Spectrum Conditions, including:

What is Autism?

How Autism affects social communication

How sensory differences can affect a person with Autism

Strategies to support people with Autism.

Autism Spectrum and Speech, Language and Communication Needs Information sessions for parents

Cath Murdoch, one of the East Riding Local Authority’s Inclusion Practitioners for Autism and Speech, Language and Communication Needs is leading three information sessions for parent carers being held at Keyingham Primary School. Your child does not need to go to the school to attend the following sessions. 

If you would like to attend one of these sessions please email the school with your name and contact number so the school know how many adults will be attending.

T.Y.L.E.R - Making A Difference

The Young Leaders of East Riding

T.Y.L.E.R is a group of young people who want to ensure all children and young people who have a disability, learning difficulty or health need get their voices heard!!

If you have a passion for making a difference to other people's lives, T.Y.L.E.R is the group for you!!

Come along to our meetings and meet other young people with similar interests. For an opportunity to socialise, share stories and experiences, make new friends and have fun!

T.Y.L.E.R Aims and Priorities:

Gather views of young people across the East Riding about services available to them.

Engage with professionals to improve services and outcomes for children and young people with additional needs.

Feedback views to professionals about education, bullying, activities available and much more.

Give young people a chance to build a social network.

 

T.Y.L.E.R meet every three months on the first Tuesday of that month, we are also starting to hold relaxed drop in sessions.

Positive Activity Grant (PAG) 2018

East Riding Voluntary Action ( ERVAS) is pleased to announce that it is continuing its work with East Riding of Yorkshire Council to support those voluntary and community groups applying for the Positive Activity Grant (PAG), helping them to develop and maintain robust safeguarding children policies and procedures.

It is a requirement of the PAG application process that all applicants are accredited with the ERVAS Fit For Purpose scheme and in regard to the next round of PAG for 2018/19, all applicants must have completed their accreditation by 31 October 2017 in order to be eligible to apply.

All future recipients of a PAG award must also ensure that any existing accreditation is still valid on 31 March 2018.
