Tuition Service

Description

The Tuition Service provides temporary educational support for pupils who are unable to attend school for medical reasons. The purpose is to minimise disruption to education for children who are physically ill, injured or have mental health difficulties. The service aims to provide as full curriculum access as possible to enable these pupils to return smoothly to school as soon as their health permits.

In exceptional circumstances the service provides tuition for pupils who have an education, health and care plan and are not on the roll of a suitable school and tuition is requested via the SEN panel to be implemented on a short-term basis until the consultation process for a new school place has been completed.

Once supported by the appropriate medical authority up to 10 hours of tuition support is available per week.

Referrals to the service are usually made by the school or the SEN Panel.
